On January 26 at the Neurosciences Research Building (BIN/DZNE) we celebrated the 4th Night of Science in Göttingen. For the first time since the building´s openings in 2016, the doors were open to the public for a personal encounter between scientists and citizens.

From early afternoon till midnight we had the pleasure to welcome dozens of families, students and curious individuals to offer them a glimpse of science. We highlighted the milestones of Parkinson´s disease research, from its initial description in 1817 till today and focused on communicating the concept of disease models and their importance. People had the opportunity to find out why do we use rats, mice, flies and yeast for studying Parkinson´s disease. How these simple organisms are related with a human disease and observe the means we use to grow, treat and study them.
